I'm thinking about getting a small tlb to dig some foundations (28' x 56', 2 ft wide maybe a foot deep) and some water lines from a well. After that I'd mostly need it for road maintenance, some snow removal. My question is if the bx 23 is large enough to handle this or if I should just buy a tractor and rent a backhoe to do the digging?

Based on the size and depth you are talking about, I would say the BX23 would do the job well. You will be surprised at how handy it is to have a small BH around your place! The '23 is so compact you can maneuver it in almost anyplace.

If you have up to 10 acres and want a versatile machine, going with the bx23 is a wise move. Most tractors that are bigger, you won't necessarily need, and cost close to same without the backhoe. The bx23 is built to the hilt and as stated in the previos message, you'll love having the convenience and versatility the backhoe adds. You can't effectively add a bh onto a subcompact without a lot of hassle, not to mention the cost to do so afterwards if it possible isn't practical. ....
